BRIS Tech Team to Compete in State-level First Lego League Competition
The BRIS Technology Team participated in the regional First Lego League Challenge competition and qualified to move onto the state-level competition. The students and coaches have been diligently preparing for the annual competition since September.
The annual FLL competition has two parts: the qualifying tournament and the state championship. What makes this years’ experience more unique is that all the challenges, presentations, and even team meetings, are held online using Microsoft Teams.
On Saturday, January 23, 2021, both BRIS FLL teams won their respective spots in the qualifying tournament and brought home team awards.
BRIS Falcons Team A was named the Innovation Project Award Runner-Up
The Innovation Project Award, this team utilizes diverse resources for their Innovation Project to help them gain a comprehensive understanding of their problem, have a creative, well-researched solution, and effectively communicate their findings to judges and the community.
BRIS Falcons Team B received the Rising Star Award
The Rising Star Award celebrates a team that the judges notice and expect great things from in the future.

FIRST, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, is a nonprofit organization that aims to inspire young people’s interest and participation in science and technology; to motivate them to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math; and to encourage team building, imagination, and critical thinking skills. FIRST also organizes the biggest robotics competitions in the world.
